What a wild and crazy ride

Okay, yes its true. I haven't been committed to writing and keeping up with my blog and i take full responsibility while at the same time pledging to be better....looking back on this blog one could get the impression that nothing has happened since the last BronxBerlinConnection. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have been busy working on the #EuropeanHipHop Exchange in Paris and Berlin, our workshops in the youth detention facility Berlin have been ongoing  with new exhibitions coming up very soon. So let me use the occasion of our BronxBerlinConnection 10th anniversary trip with a delegation of 22 folks from Berlin and Paris to re-launch this blog. It shall not be forgotten again. Since time is always scarce in NYC we will commence a photoblog with thoughts and reflections immediately after the conclusion of the exchange...Blog posts will be in German and English.

The BronxBerlinConnection 10th anniversary edition Nov. 11-20 2018!

Exactly 10 years ago a few colleagues from Gangway e.V. formulated the idea to take a bunch of youth involved in some of our Hip Hop Education projects to the Hip Hop Mecca of the world - NYC. Hence, the BronxBerlinConnection was born. 10 years later we look back upon 10 years of youth exchange and over 200 young people who have been able to travel this bridge in both directions.

On Nov. 11 the eights BronxBerlinConnection delegation will travel from Berlin to NYC. Together with the Foundation Luftbrückendank we will conduct workshops on the subject of the Russian blockade of Berlin and the ensuing airbridge campaign in three schools in NYC and New Jersey. We will meet some of Hip Hop’s icons and we will participate in workshops in order to learn strategies of coping and fighting against poverty, violence and marginalization in marginalized neighborhoods.

The BronxBerlinConnection wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing help of some amazing people, all of which are being named at the end of the trailer.

We are very grateful for the last 10 years. We would like to express our gratitude not just to these people and funding orgs but most importantly to the young people who have embarked on this adventure with us and who have hopefully been able to gain a lasting and maybe even live altering experience in the process!
